Prof. Dr. G.Arunachalam, M.Pharm., Ph.D., FIC
Prof. Dr. G.Arunachalam born on 02nd July 1974, passed B.Pharm from S.R.M College of Pharmacy, Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu under The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University, Chennai-32 in 1997. Thereafter he took M.Pharmacy (Pharmacognosy) Degree in 2000 from Periyar College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Trichy-21 under The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University, Chennai-32. In 2000 he joined ICMR Virus Unit Kolkata, ID & BG Hospital Campus, Beliaghata, Kolkata – 10, India as Research Assoiciate. In 2003 he moved to Pallavan Pharmacy College, Iyyengarkulam, Kancheepuram – 631502, Tamilnadu, India as Assistant Professor.
He obtained his Ph.D Degree in Pharmacy in 2005 from Jadavpur University, Kolkatta -32 entitled “Pharmacological evaluation of bioactive compounds from Alstonia macrophylla Wall ex. A. DC and Mallotus peltatus (Geist) Muell Arg var. accuminatus: Ethnomedicine of Bay Islands”. After obtaning his Ph.D Degree he became as Professor cum Principal in S.A. Raja Pharmacy college, Raja Nagar, Vadakkangulam – 627116, Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu, India. In May 2007 he took over as Professor cum Principal of PGP College of Pharmaceutical Science and Research Institute, Namakkal-637207, Tamilnadu, India.
He has published more than 47 research articles in international and one research articles national journals also contributed in one book chapter such as Pharmacological activities of three ethnomedicines of little Andaman. "Search for Natural drugs". In: Recent Progress in Medicinal Plants. J N Govil Ed. Studium Press Texas, USA. He is life members for more than 6 Professional Societies. He also visited Malaysia and has presented of one his research articles entitled “Anti-inflammatory Activity of Methanol extract of Alstonia scholaris (L.) R. Brown: A Tribal Medicine” an International Scientific Conference on ‘RECENT TRENDS AND FUTURE PERSPECTIVES TOWARDS THE PROTECTION OF HEALTH. He has presented more than 16 research articles in International and National Conferences related to Pharmacy.
He also visited different University and gave lecture on different topics related to Role of Research in Education and Important of Medicinal Plants (Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry). He developed Medicinal Garden particularly with Aloe vera and constantly encouraging the peoples in PGP Campus and surrounding area to use for Aloe veradifferent kind of Diseases with good results.
